Bruce Barker
About
Bruce’s radio career began when he was just a freshman in High School, working On-Air at an AM station in a small Western Alaska town. Bruce moved to Southern California in 1987, joining the airstaff at Top-40 outlet KCAQ (Ventura County), where he was also Production Director. In 1993, Bruce signed with the Minneapolis-based Children’s Broadcasting Corp., and was Operations Manager-West Coast for most of the 32-station network’s existence. CBC’s format was family-oriented, aimed primarily at young teens. For almost four years during this period, Bruce hosted national celebrity-interview shows from Disneyland, and later, Universal Studios Hollywood.
In 2001 Bruce began a two-year stint with Salem-Los Angeles as Commercial Producer, and was often called upon to serve as fill-in Morning Show host for Salem’s 95.9 The Fish. Bruce can now be heard on weekends (and occasional weekdays) at The Fish, and spends the rest of his waking hours running his own broadcast creative company.
Bruce is no stranger to the national spotlight: TV viewers will recognize him as the voice of the show “Muscle Car”, Radio listeners have heard him as pitchman for everything from mortgage companies to ProFlowers, and Southern California theatre-goers will hear Bruce as the voice for the LA Times/Calendar theatrical commercials.
Bruce is an avid vintage car fan, owning several late-1950’s Fords, and has been a jack-of-all-trades musician since before he can remember. His goal for 2006 is to work a little less... and enjoy God’s beautiful world a little more.
